John Stauffer, Harvard historian. "Douglass and Lincoln: From Dred Scott to Obama."
Stauffer is chair of the History of American Civilization and professor of English and African-American Studies at Harvard University. He is author and editor of several books, including award-winning The Black Hearts of men: Radical Abolitionists and the Transformation of Race (Harvard University Press 2002). His most recent book Giants: The Parallel Lives of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln was published in November 2008.
