Career Center Mission/Goals

Goals

To initiate and facilitate self assessment, pResearch, exploration by experience and person-to-person alumni(ae) networking, which will enhance capacities to articulate and, ultimately, attain goals. Our VIPS Search Program that includes individualized vocational testing is a step-by-step process that helps students and alumni(ae) develop short and long-term educational and career objectives.

To establish relationships, provide resources and nurture the skills that will yield student employment, internship and full-time postings and interviewing opportunities as well as placement outcomes associated with corporate, not for profit, educational, graduate school, and varied prospective employers.

To facilitate goal setting and application processes associated with graduate and professional schools as well as post baccalaureate fellowships, grants and related options.

To provide services that inspire academic and career exploration, internship placement and goal articulation for all students. Further, to teach job search as well as graduate school, fellowship and related application skills that empower students and alumni(ae) to attain career and educational goals upon graduation and throughout their lifetimes. These include: resume and job search correspondence writing, interview skills development, self-initiated job search techniques, offer negotiation, internship and summer job search.

To maintain one of the nation’s best on-line and printed collections of career and job search publications, employer information, graduate school materials and testing information and, through job search work stations, offer access to web resources as well as phone and fax capabilities.
