ABOUT THE PROGRAM
In a relaxed setting, a small group of UR students will explore careers and fields of interest, sharing a meal with a UR Alumnus or Parent in New York City. These career role models will share information on their backgrounds and career fields, inspiring you to explore yoUR academic and career curiosities.
These events are FREE for UR students, and are sponsored by the Career Center and Office of Alumni Relations.

MEDICINE
Robin Phillips, MD (BA ’73)
Dr. Phillips is a renowned doctor of gynecology and has authored several well-known books on the subject of menopause. Her undergraduate major at UR was Biology. She attended Mt. Sinai Medical School.

Elliott Hershman, MD (BA ’75 & MD ‘79)
Orthopedic Surgeon
MANHATTAN ORTHOPAEDICS
Dr. Hershman is currently acting chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital. He also serves as Team Orthopaedist for the NY Jets and NY Islanders, as well as Chairman if the NFL Injury and Safety Panel. Past experience includes a sports medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. Both his undergraduate (Biology) and medical degrees are from UR.

Hon. Robert Sack (BA ’60)
Circuit Court Judge
U.S. COURT OF APPEALS
Judge Sack was appointed in by President Clinton in 1998 to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Previously he was in private law practice as a partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. He is the author of several books and articles on the first amendment. His undergraduate major at UR was History, and he attended Columbia Law School.

Lori Smith (BA ’81)
Partner – Business Law
GOODWIN PROCTER
Ms. Smith specializes in representing foreign and domestic companies with regard to mergers and acquisitions, financings and general corporate matters, with an emphasis on software, internet, wireless and other emerging technologies. As an undergraduate, she studied Economics. She received her JD from Duke.

Robert Bourque (MS ’77, PhD ‘80)
Partner – Litigation & Intellectual Property
SIMPSON THACHER & BARTLETT
Dr. Bourque advises clients on intellectual property, product liability, environmental law, and other areas. He concentrates his practice in matters involving scientific, medical, and technical expertise, utilizing his unique background (a doctorate in Organic Chemistry before attending law school at Columbia).

Jody Frank (BA ’74)

Mr. Frank is CFO at a UK-based company that leads the world in underwater terrorism prevention. He worked on Wall Street as Senior Vice President of Investments for UBS Wealth Management, and also held positions at Salomon Smith Barney and CIBC Oppenheimer. His BA was in English, and he holds an MBA in Finance from Rutgers.

Dennis Pidherny (BA ’86, S’87)
Managing Director, Global Utilities
AMBAC ASSURANCE CORPORATION
Mr. Pidherny is responsible for managing the underwriting activity for Ambac's current portfolio of US and international utility clients, which exceeds $34.0 billion. Before joining Ambac in 1997, Mr. Pidherny was a Vice President with The Bank of New York's Energy Industries Division; he also worked in The Bank of New York¹s Capital Markets Division, focusing on private placements and loan syndications. His BA degree was in Economics and Organizational Psychology. For his MBA, he focused on Finance, Accounting and Corporate and Market Organizations.

Barry Cohen (Parent of ’11)
Senior Managing Director
APOLLO GLOBAL MANAGEMENT
Apollo is known as one of the pre-eminent private equity funds in the world. In his present position, Mr. Cohen deals mainly with the firm’s hedge fund businesses. Prior to this post, he was Senior Managing Director of Asset Management at Bear Stearns, and as served as head of the Bear Stearns Risk Arbitrage Department and co-founder of the Bear Stearns Global Equity Arbitrage Funds. His past experience includes work as a mergers and acquisitions attorney. He attended Harvard for his bachelor, JD and MBA degrees.
