Goal setting begins with self-assessed identification and clarification of Values, Interests, Personality traits and Skills. After a thorough understanding of your VIPS, research is essential to identify career fields, job functions, and academic options. Goals can only be articulated through a process of self-assessment and pResearch – neither alone is sufficient to generate strong career plans. The ability to present your goals clearly and concisely is critical!
The University of Rochester VIPS Search program is designed to help students and alumni answer questions about their career choice. The VIPS Search program typically helps individuals who:
Are unsure of their major
Have difficulty focusing on one career option
Feel like no career will be fulfilling
Have no idea what to do after graduation
VIPs is a blend of formalized assessment, individual counseling and targeted action steps developed to facilitate your gaining focus and, in time, stating clear career goals. Whether through formal or informal assessment and research, we want you to understand and ultimately, personify WYSIWYG…What you say, Is What You Get!
Once you have met with a career counselor and have received a password, you may utilize this link to take the Myers Briggs and Strong Interest Inventory. Please note: You will not receive test results until you meet with a Career Center Counselor.
