Pollination is a keystone process in ecosystem and bees are the primary
pollinators of many plants. There is increasing concern that pollination relationships are threatened due to
human-caused extirpation of pollinators.
One important outcome of our long-term study of pollinator dynamics in the San Bernardino Valley is to establish a
baseline set of data from a semi-natural area where human impact is now minimal.
Along with a number of colleagues, a standardized protocol for pollinator monitoring was developed in hopes that data
collected on pollinator populations in the future will be comparable across studies. This protocol can be found at (online.sfsu.edu/~beeplot/).
