College Music Department

Welcome

The College Music Department serves a student population with very diverse interests. In addition to courses of study leading to the B.A. degree with a major in music, the department offers a music minor, eight music clusters, and a number of performing ensembles comprised of music majors as well as non-majors. Indeed, many of the students in our classes are majoring in disciplines other than, or in addition to, music. Students at Rochester have access not only to the resources of the Art & Music Library on the River Campus, but also to the extensive collection in Eastman School of Music's Sibley Music Library.

From applied music lessons to symphony concerts to musical theater workshops to jazz and rock, from a cappella groups to summer carillon recitals, music plays a prominent part in students' lives on the River Campus. Added to the several performances of each Music Department ensemble every year, the schedules of Eastman School ensembles, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, and a plethora of other performing groups in the area yield a calendar full of music offerings.
