Jacqueline is currently completing her dissertation, "Kant and the Moral Necessity of Civil Society" for anticipated completion of the Ph.D. in May 2009. Her research interests include: Applied Ethics, particularly the normative aspects of political participation and community engagement; Contemporary moral-political debates surrounding the issues of abortion, war, euthanasia, stem cell research, and criminal justice; History of Early Modern Philosophy; and Philosophy of Law.
Jacqueline's dissertation committee is chaired by Dr. Randall Curren, and includes Dr. Richard Dees and Dr. Ralf Meerbote. Informally, her work is overseen and directed by her husband, Greg Baker, and their three children.
Currently serving her third four-year term as a City Councilor, Jacqueline is co-author of the blog NoStringsGeneva, which focuses on issues of accountability and transparency in local government decision-making.
