Upward Bound Programs

About the Upward Bound Program

The University of Rochester’s Upward Bound program is a comprehensive program which supports and challenges students through high school. We are comprised of two specific programs, Upward Bound Classic and Upward Bound MathScience. These programs help students make a successful transition from high school to college, primary majoring in math or science for the Upward Bound MathScience Program. It is designed to help low-income students who are enrolled in the Rochester City School District become the first members of their families to attend college. The program runs year-round to prepare students to succeed in high school, apply and gain admission to college.

Students selected to participate in Upward Bound are expected to attend ALL program events and activities. Activities take place in after school, on some weekends, and during the summer. There will be a schedule for new participants once admitted.

Our goal is for students to apply as ninth graders and remain in the program until their sophomore year in college.
