Visual Resources Collection (VRC)
The Visual Resources Collection (VRC) maintains a database of 30,000 digital images, and houses more than 125,000 slides specializing in various aspects of visual culture. Images and slides are used by faculty and students of the University in classes, lectures and seminars. Within the facility are computers for accessing the database, a slide scanner for incorporating images into papers and web sites, light tables for viewing and organizing slides and staff offices. Although the Collection is located in the Art/Music Library on the ground level of Rush Rhees Library, it is staffed and maintained by the Department of Art and Art History. Kim Kopatz is the Curator of the Collection and Irma Abu-Jumah is the Image Technician. The Visual Resources Collection is open to anyone in the University community with a current University ID, and slides are loaned for a three-day period.
