How Can You Help?

As part of the planning process, we strongly encourage students to meet with authorized faculty in their departments and advisers in the Center for Study Abroad to discuss how study abroad will fit in with their academics, interests, and goals.

Why is advising needed?

Study abroad advisers can approve courses for elective transfer credit, but students must seek approval from authorized faculty if they wish to apply study abroad courses toward a major or minor, and if they wish to obtain credit for an internship, service-learning, or practicum.

What is involved in advising?

Assisting a student in planning overseas studies means finding a program which matches his or her goals and interests, as well as answering questions while they are abroad, or helping them adjust after they return. The additional pages in this section of our website will guide you through the advising process and answer many questions you may have.
