Getting Started

Submitting a Proposal

All students who intend to study abroad, whether on programs sponsored by UR, or on other institutions' programs, need to file this proposal no later than September 15 for Spring programs, or February 15 for fall or full-year programs.

What is a Proposal Form?

This proposal form is not a commitment nor an application to a particular program. It is a declaration to that you are considering study abroad for the upcoming semester. (If you are interested in a future semester beyond next semester or year, you may sign up for our mailing list).

Once I’m done with the proposal, what do I do next?

All programs (whether UR or non-UR) have their own application criteria and deadlines. UR programs are listed in the Study Abroad Handbook, UR There.

Can I go for more than one semester?

Students may study abroad for a total of two semesters. The semesters do not need to be concurrent. There is no limit on the number of summers you can go abroad. You do not need to submit a proposal if you are applying for summer study abroad only.
