Planning to Go Abroad

Preparing to Travel

1. Obtain a passport and Visa if needed.

Find out the visa requirements for the country in which you plan to study and apply for your passport. Start this process as early as possible.

2. Make financial arrangements.

Meet with your financial aid counselor and work with a counselor in the Center for Study Abroad to apply for any special study abroad scholarships or financial aid.

3. Familiarize yourself with student conduct and safety abroad.

Students overseas are required to adhere to the UR "Standards of Conduct" and should follow recommended safety guidelines.

4. Review health care recommendations and requirements.
