Note: Since Australia and New Zealand are in the Southern Hemisphere, the seasons and semesters are reversed. In other words, our spring semester is the first semester of their academic year, which begins in February and ends in November.

Australia

1. Adelaide: Fall, Spring, or Full Year

The University of Adelaide is one of Australia's oldest and finest universities, with 15,000 students, including approximately 1,300 international students from seventy countries. It is one of Australia's elite "sandstone" universities, and has produced three of Australia's eight Nobel Prize winners and many Rhodes scholars. Students are fully integrated into the University. 2. Melbourne: Fall, Spring, or Full Year

Melbourne is Australia's second largest city. With more than three million people, it juxtaposes industry with culture, and beautiful countryside with cosmopolitan flair. This integrated program offers courses at the University of Melbourne, which has a student population of 35,000, including 6,000 international students. The University is an outstanding research and teaching university: indeed, it is the largest recipient of research funds in Australia. There are outstanding programs in many fields of science, economics, business, communications, the social sciences, and the humanities. As well, the program offers a unique internship program that provides students with the opportunity to experience the Australian workplace. 3. Sydney: Fall, Spring, or Full Year

Located at the site of Australia’s first European settlement, Sydney is home to a fifth of the Australian population. This program affords you the opportunity to enroll in one of three universities: the University of New South Wales, the University of Sydney and Macquarie University. The University of New South Wales features studies in natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, fine arts, and economics, among other disciplines. Macquarie University offers a wide range of courses, such as business, health, computing, information technology, earth and planetary geosciences, as well as internships. The University of Sydney has strong options for students in aboriginal studies, arts, architecture, economics, education, social work, engineering, natural resources, and health sciences. The largest Polynesian city in the world, Auckland has a multi-cultural population of one million. With its dynamic mix of European and Pacific Island influences, Auckland is an international yet distinctly New Zealand city. The IES Auckland program offers students direct enrollment at the University of Auckland. The University is one of the top institutions in the South Pacific. Situated atop a hill, the campus is located a short walk from the heart of cosmopolitan Auckland. Founded in 1883, the University of Auckland offers a wide range of courses in seven main faculties, including architecture, fine arts, business and economics, engineering, law, health sciences, and natural sciences. 2. Christchurch: Fall, Spring, or Full Year

Christchurch is one of the oldest and most European cities in New Zealand. Located in the heart of the spectacular beauty of the South Island, Christchurch, known as the Garden City, is ideally situated to explore the rugged Southern Alps, the fjords, and the miles of endless coastline. The IES Christchurch program offers direct enrollment at the University of Canterbury, an institution of 12,500 students. The University's modern and well-equipped facilities, libraries and lecture halls are located on a spacious, landscaped campus, within easy reach of the city center and its cultural and recreational opportunities. Offering courses spread across the Faculties of Arts, Commerce, Education, Engineering, Fine Arts, Law, Music, and Science, the University of Canterbury offers particularly strong and unique offerings in engineering, ecology, Antarctic studies, astronomy, film studies, zoology, and interdisciplinary studies in diplomacy, international relations and peace studies.
