ALANA AlumniGet Involved
The involvement of alumni of color is integral our success. Here are some ways you can make a difference:
Become a career mentor:
The unique insight, information, and assistance you can provide related to fields, firms, and industry trends can be invaluable to your fellow alumni and current undergraduates. They welcome advice and may contact you with a variety of questions related to career exploration, job search, and internship opportunities. You may also possess special knowledge regarding issues of race and ethnicity in your career field. Visit our Career Advisory Network, part of the Rochester Alumni Exchange, and create a mentor profile today!
Volunteer on your class reunion committee:
Reunions are about celebrating your achievements and those of your classmates since graduation. From your Zero Year Reunion to your 50th Reunion Medallion Ceremony, volunteering to plan your celebration can make it that much more special. Learn more by visiting http://www.rochester.edu/college/alumni/.
Help recruit or interview prospective students:
Prospective students are increasingly eager to meet with local representatives of the College as they make their way through the college application experience. Admissions volunteers serve as an extension of the admissions counseling staff by recruiting and evaluating prospective students on Rochester's behalf. Visit the UR Involved Website to find out how to become an admissions volunteer.
Host an event:
Bringing alumni of color together for social and educational events is an important part of our mission. Is there an event coming to townperhaps an art exhibit, musical performance, or lecturethat would be of special interest to alumni of color? Is your city known for a special event such as a jazz festival, sporting championship, or cultural showcase? If you would like to host an alumni event in conjunction with a special local event, please contact Anne Shields at anne.shields@rochester.edu.
Suggest a speaker or program:
We rely on you to help us live up to our motto, Meliora ever better. Please share your ideas for provocative speakers and cutting-edge programs that fellow alumni and/or current undergraduates should be exposed to, by contacting Anne Shields at anne.shields@rochester.edu.
