College Fairs

College fairs create awareness about the University of Rochester and are an enjoyable and beneficial way to promote the College and interact with prospective students and families. You provide a few hours of your time and your enthusiasm for Rochester and we'll provide the rest! College fairs are often a student's first point of contact with the University, and students are eager to learn general information about our programs and the College.

Interviewing Prospective Students

Interviews provide valuable information to Admissions staff in the decision-making process. Volunteers are assigned interviews on a rolling basis throughout the fall and early winter and are expected to complete and return an online interview report form after the interview. Other interviewing opportunities such as participating in a large alumni admissions interviewing event and working alongside an admissions counselor may also be available in some regions.

Regional Admissions Events

Admissions counselors welcome the opportunity to have alumni and parents attend presentations in their home towns to meet with prospective students and their parents. Your perspectives offer important insight into the value of a Rochester education.

Congratulatory and Yield Phonathons

URI volunteers help welcome admitted students and their parents by calling to congratulate them and encourage their enrollment. These calls are a great opportunity to welcome students into the Rochester family! Calling typically occurs in March and April.

Identifying and Referring Prospective Students

We welcome referrals of students whom you think would be a good addition to our student body. And, if you know of an extraordinary high school in your area that you believe Admissions should hear about, please let us know and we will make sure to reach out.

If you have questions about regional Admissions-related activities, please contact one of our counselors responsible for your region.
