The Young Alumni Council

Mission:

The Young Alumni Council (YAC) is a leadership organization dedicated to promoting a culture of philanthropy and increasing participation among College alumni. The YAC advises the Office of Alumni Relations on programming initiatives and strategies that appeal to younger alumni. The Young Alumni Council serves to encourage a sense of pride in the University of Rochester and its more than 8,500 young alumni.

The Council’s success derives from members’ leadership, enthusiasm, and dedication as they serve as a role model encouraging other young alumni to become more involved in activities and philanthropic support of the University of Rochester.

Structure:

The Young Alumni Council is comprised of 20 to 30 members selected by the Office of Alumni Relations from the ten most recently graduated classes. YAC members serve a three-year term. In rare cases, an individual may be asked to serve an additional term. Two YAC members selected by the Office of Alumni Relations serve a three-year term as co-chairs.
