Transfer Credit

Review Process

Students will need to complete a Business Transfer/Study Abroad Course Submission Form to request the evaluation of transfer or study abroad (non-UR) courses for business courses (ACC, BUS, CIS, ENT, FIN, LAW, MKT, and STR). Each course requires a separate form.

It will then be reviewed by the designated faculty track advisor. Students should expect to have the result of the evaluation with 8-9 business days. Please start this process early on, if you are able.

Once your Course Approval Form has been signed by an authorized department approver (an advisor in the undergraduate business program), it will need to be emailed to CCAS Records (ccasrec@ur.rochester.edu).

Please note the business program’s policy on transfer credit, below.

Business Program Policies

Business Majors
A maximum of three non-UR courses can be used to satisfy business major requirements, of which up to two can be from non-AACSB accredited institutions.

  • Incoming Junior or Senior Transfer Students
A maximum of five non-UR courses can be used to satisfy business major requirements, of which up to three can be from non-AACSB accredited institutions.

Business Minors
A maximum of two non-UR courses can be used to satisfy the business minor requirements.

Transfer courses cannot be used to fulfill cluster requirements.

Please see the full list of AACSB-accredited institutions, here.

Specific Course Policies

Students requesting transfer credit for economics courses will need to reach out to the Department of Economics.

Economics courses at other institutions can transfer for "track" credit only if the student has completed the prerequisite of ECON 207: Intermediate Microeconomics.

Transfer credit for ECON 108 requires a course (or courses) that cover(s) both principles of microeconomics and macroeconomics.
