About the Dean of Students Office

The Office of the Dean of Students provides programs and services that enhance student learning, promote community development, and support the educational goals of the undergraduate and graduate populations of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering. Through collaborative initiatives with University departments, schools, offices, faculty and staff, the Office of the Dean of Students is dedicated to promoting a strong quality of life for students in both the academic and non-academic realms. Our goal is to encourage the intellectual, emotional, and ethical development of undergraduate and graduate students of the College of Arts, Sciences and Engineering.

The Office of the Dean of Students assists individuals and groups of students in a variety of ways. As a clearinghouse, our staff helps in solving problems directly or in making appropriate referrals. Through the Rochester Center for Community Leadership, we help promote student volunteer activity, civic engagement, and leadership development. The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs promotes academic, social, and service opportunities for students through their involvement in fraternities and sororities. The Wilson Commons Student Activitites Office advises campus organizations and develops campus community by engaging students in programs and leadership development. We attend to other ongoing issues that affect the quality of student life, issues such as nonacademic discipline, personal safety, and alcohol/drug awareness.
