Skip Greer is in his 13th season as Artist in Residence and Director of Education with Geva Theatre Center.
Geva Credits: (Directing): American Buffalo, Doubt, Key West, Death of a Salesman, Inherit the Wind, Lobby Hero, Beast on the Moon, The Triumph of Love, Women Who Steal, The Weir, and Below the Belt. He will direct The House in Hydesville this winter. (Acting): Stage Manager in Our Town, Ghost/Player King in Hamlet, John Hancock in 1776, Giles in House and Garden, Alexander in Every Good Boy Deserves Favor, Serge in Art, Alcandre, the magician in The Illusion, Foreman in Twelve Angry Men, Spike in State of the Union, Ken in A Girl’s Life, and Sagot in Picasso at the Lapin Agile. He will act in Evie’s Waltz next spring.
Other directing credits include: King Lear (Shakespeare Santa Cruz), Golf With Alan Shepard (Gary Marshall’s Falcon Theatre; w. Jack Klugman, Charles Durning and Paul Dooley), Trying (Studio Arena Theatre), Men on the Take (Repertory Theatre of St. Louis), Women Who Steal (State Theatre of Austin), TBone and Weasel and Candida (Sacramento Theatre Company). Acting: Oregon Shakepearean Festival (4 seasons), San Jose Repertory Company (7 seasons), Sacramento Theatre Company (7 seasons), Utah Shakespearean Festival, Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts, and the American Conservatory Theatre.
Mr. Greer served as the Co-Acting Artistic Director of Geva Theatre Center for the 2003-04 season.
Mr. Greer has been an artist/educator since completing his MFA in acting at the American Conservatory Theatre in 1982. He was selected as a “Master Artist” with the California Arts Project from 1990 through 1995 where he developed curricula in the arts for elementary, secondary and university levels. He has been a member of the artistic companies, and has developed and implemented educational programming at the Oregon Shakespearean Festival, San Jose Repertory Company, and the Sacramento Theatre Company, amongst others. He has been a teacher and a facilitator at colleges and universities throughout California, Colorado and New York, including SUNY Brockport and the University of Rochester. Mr. Greer conducted educational world tours to explore theatre in England, Ireland, Pakistan, South Africa, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Kenya, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand and the Cook Islands. In his capacity at Geva Theatre Center, he has implemented and directed all Geva Educational Programming, including the Acting and Directing Fellowships, and the Alliance with SUNY Brockport. Mr. Greer also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colorado State University.
