A Note from the Director
Valeria Sinclair-Chapman,
Director of Graduate Programs
We in the Kearns Center are thrilled to welcome you to the website for Graduate Programs. We hope this website will be a resource for students, particularly when topics of diversity arise. On the website, you will find links to the Graduate School, the Kearns Center, the Center for Teaching and Learning, and diversity initiatives at the UR; a searchable fellowship database; a calendar of events; and much more. Contact information for staff in the Kearns Center, the Graduate School, and ASE is listed, as well as links to additional resources that might be of interest to graduate students. Beyond the Kearns Center, there is a wealth of support for graduate students both professionally and personally. For instance, the Provost’s Office organizes Future Faculty Initiative workshops each year addressing the role of a faculty member, teaching and assessment, diversity, and mentoring. The Office of Intercessor may be a useful resource for students who are encountering difficult circumstances in their departments and need a mediator to help sort things out. Of course, I am available weekly during my office hours on Thursdays 10-12 or by appointment. On behalf of the Kearns Center, we look forward to working with you.
Onward and Upward,
Valeria
