Spring Break 2014

This year, Spring Break will begin on Saturday, March 8, and classes will resume on Monday, March 17. We would like all students at the College—regardless of if you are leaving for all of break, staying for all of break, or a combination of both—to fill out the registration form, available at https://ccc.rochester.edu/form/start/37231All submissions received before Wednesday, March 5th at 11:59pm will be entered into a raffle for Rochester goodies.

Are you leaving?

Airport/Amtrak/Bus Shuttles

The Students’ Association Government will provide shuttles looping from Southside, Towers, Rush Rhees Library, the Greater Rochester International Airport, and the Amtrak Station on Friday, March 7, Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 16. My Bus Home will arrange roundtrip or one way motor coach transportation from campus to Ludlow and Newton, MA or New York City/Bridgewater, NJ/Easton, PA. For information about My Bus Home and to reserve a seat, visit www.mybushome.com. Registration deadline is February 21.

 

Trailways Bus Service travels throughout New York State and southern Canada, including Buffalo, Syracuse, Albany, New York City, and Toronto. There will be three departures betweeen 12:35pm and 4:20pm on Friday, March 7, to points east, with pick up behind Rush Rhees Library. Tickets can be purchased at the midtown station, or online at http://www.trailwaysny.com/index.asp. Tickets cannot be purchased at the IT Center.

 

If these options don’t work for your schedule, the University has a partnership with Marketplace Taxi to provide flat-rate transportation to locations around Rochester, including the airport, Amtrak station, and Greyhound Bus Station. Athletic Facilities

The Goergen Athletic Center will have reduced service during spring break:

·     Friday, March 7: Closes at 5:00pm

·     Saturday—Sunday, March 8—9: Closed

·     Monday—Friday, March 10—14: 10:00am—2:00pm

·     Saturday, March 15: Closed

·     Sunday, March 16: 5:00pm—11:00pm

 

The Aquatic Center will be closed during each weekend, but open during the week:

·     Monday, March 10—Friday, March 14: 11:00am—1:00pm

Bookstore

The bookstore will be closed during the weekends, but open during the week:

·     Monday—Thursday, March 10—13: 9:00am—5:00pm

·     Friday, March 14: 9:00am—2:00pm

 

Buses, Shuttles, and Taxis

University-sponsored buses and shuttles will run with uninterrupted service on the weekends of Saturday/Sunday, March 8-9, as well as March 15-16. The Green Line Public Market bus resumes on Saturday, March 8.

 

Between Monday, March 10 and Friday, March 14, the Blue Line will run 7:10am-9:50pm, and the Orange Line will run 7:50am-5:10pm. The Orange Line will have a reduced schedule, traveling between Rush Rhees Library and Eastman Living Center via Alexander St. For complete bus schedules, please visit the Parking and Transportation website at: http://www.rochester.edu/parking/options/Student%20Shuttles.html.

 

RTS, the mass-transit system for the city of Rochester, will be operating with continuous service through the week as well. International Services

The International Services Office will be open with uninterrupted service during the break.

·     Monday—Friday, March 10—14: 9:00am—4:00pm

 

Libraries

River Campus Libraries will be open with a number of libraries maintaining their regular hours (including Rush Rhees Library, Gleason Library, the Multimedia Center, and the Physics-Optics-Astronomy Library) during the break.

 

Other libraries, including the Art and Music Library, the Business & Government Information Library, and Carlson Library will have reduced hours during the week.

·     The Art/Music Library will be open Monday through Friday until 5:00pm, but closed on weekends (less Sunday, March 16)

·     Carlson will be open every day, closing at 5:00pm during weekends/Friday, and 9:00pm during the week

Religious Services

Newman Community Catholic Masses will be held on Sunday, March 9 at 10:30am, and Sunday, March 16 at 10:30am and 7:00pm.

 

University Health Service and University Counseling Center

Hours for the University Health Service River Campus Office are below:

Whenever UHS offices are closed, a UHS physician is on call and available by phone for urgent concerns that cannot wait until the offices re-open. Call UHS at 585-275-2662. In an emergency, call Public Safety at 585-275-3333.

University Counseling Center Hours:

  • Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9: Closed
  • Monday—Friday, March 10—14: 8:00am—5:00pm
  • Saturday, March 15 and Sunday, March 16: Closed

  • The Common Market will close early on Friday, March 7 and open on Sunday, March 16 at 11:00am
  • The Mane Attraction will be open during the week on Tuesday and Thursday only
  • The Hive Game Room will close at 9:00pm on Friday, March 7 and open on Monday, March 17 at 11:00am
