Expectations for Excellence
Accreditation 2006

This year the Fraternities and Sororities at the University of Rochester embarked on a new initiative called the Expectations for Excellence. This program is a success driven model that encourages the chapters to become a larger part of the college community rather than exist as insular groups on the periphery. The program encourages co-sponsorship of events with other fraternities, sororities, and non-greek groups on campus as well as more interaction with college offices and increased use of college resources.

The groups exceeded anticipated results during this first year. In March, each chapter submitted an Expectations for Excellence plan with their proposed events and strategy for the 2006 year to the Fraternity and Sorority Standards Sub-Committee who approved them. In November, the groups were asked to submit an Annual Report reviewing their success in achieving their plan and reflecting on their performance throughout the year. The chapters also gave a fifteen minute presentation to a review panel composed of two staff or faculty members and a student. The Fraternity and Sorority Standards Sub-Committee reviewed the annual reports and the feedback from the presentation review panel, along with supplemental information provided by the chapters and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs. After reviewing these materials the Standard Committee has made their decisions on which groups they will accredit for 2007.
