Buses, Trains, and Airplanes

Need help with travel plans? Don't know want to or can't drive? Here are some resources which you may find helpful!

By Bus: 

Rochester Transportation Services

The Rochester city buses stop at several locations on the River Campus as well as the Medical Center and Eastman campuses on all routes.

Greyhound Bus Service

Greyhound has trips to Rochester from multiple locations in the Northeast.

By Train:

Amtrak Service to Rochester

The Rochester Amtrak station is located at 320 Central Ave. Taxi service and car rental are available, and the station is located on the municipal bus line that serves the River Campus.

By Plane:

Greater Rochester International Airport

The University's River Campus is about two miles from the Greater Rochester International Airport (airport code ROC). Commercial taxi service and car rental are available from the airport. Cab fare is approximately $10, depending on the number of people and luggage.

By Car:

Uber

Uber is relatively new to the city of Rochester. The company provides on-demand taxi services via their app. For your first ride as a first-time Uber user, you can take a look at this flyer for a discount exclusive to University of Rochester students!

Personal Vehicle

For August 23rd, Domestic Move-In day ONLY -Please enter campus via Kendrick Road and enter Valentine Lot located at the GPS coordinates (43.1177, -77.6325). You will be directed behind deKiewiet and Valentine Towers to Park Lot and queued for the proper residence area. Please follow the staff members directions and look for the waving blue wind sock.


If you plan to arrive by plane, train or bus, walk over from the Staybridge Hotel or Hilton Garden Inn and plan to take a taxi to campus, it is very important that you contact your area office with your arrival information. Your keys and check-in information will be relocated to the area office. Taxis and shuttles should be directed to the Susan B. Anthony/Genesee Area Office (for Susan B. Anthony and Genesee Halls) and to the Quad Area Office (for Hoeing, Gilbert, Lovejoy and Tiernan). Do not direct the taxi through the Park Lot move-in queue. The Residential Life staff will have your check-in information available at your area office if you make advance arrangements. If you do not contact us in advance, there will be some delay with your check-in. Please let us know in advance to help avoid this problem!
