YEA! for Time Warner Employees
As a Time Warner Cable employee, you know that education is the cornerstone of what we do. We are committed to furthering academic opportunities for youth in our community. To expand on that local commitment, Time Warner has proudly partnered with the University of Rochester Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!). This partnership offers tuition discounts and a YEA! scholarship opportunity for the children and grandchildren of all Time Warner Cable employees.

Background on Program
The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is a year-long program that teaches middle and high schools students how to start and run their own REAL businesses. Entering its fifth year in 2008-2009, YEA! was developed with the support of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
- Over the course of the year, students:
- Brainstorm business ideas
- Write a business plan
- Pitch their business plan to potential investors
- Obtain funding
- Actually launch their own businesses or social movements
Why Apply?
- This program offers you the chance to:
- Develop the skills necessary to launch your own business or social movement (hands-on entrepreneurial experience!)
- Learn about real businesses—why they succeed or fail.
- Hear from local entrepreneurs.
- Launch your own business!
- Become more confident in your ideas and your abilities.
Organization of Program
YEA! runs during the academic year from September to May. Classes meet once a week from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. There is no class during regular school holidays and recesses. Students are taught by one instructor, but are exposed to guest lecturers, successful entrepreneurs and business mentors. The class goes on fieldtrips to various local businesses. Finally, the students participate in three major events throughout the year: the Investor Panel, Trade Show and a formal graduation ceremony.
Student Selection Process
- To apply for YEA!, students must:
- Fill out the YEA! application
- Complete the essay
- Complete the short answer questions
- Submit a copy of their most recent transcripts
- Submit a letter of recommendation
- Submit the application fee
Once the completed application packet is received, students will be asked to come to campus for an interview. Acceptance in the program is based on all aspects of an application, as well as the personal interview. Prior experience with business is not required!
Scholarships
Time Warner is providing a full scholarship for the child or grandchild of a Time Warner Employee. The scholarship is based on merit.

Tuition and Fees
Program tuition is $900.00 for the child or grandchild of a Time Warner Employee.
