Background on Program

For over twenty years the Taste of College program has been offering high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to get a jumpstart on their college careers by taking courses for credit. These are actual college courses with our own undergraduate students.

Since Taste of College classes are actual undergraduate classes, they take place during the traditional University semesters:

Student Selection Process

  • To apply for the Taste of College Program, students must:
  • Fill out the Taste of College Application
  • Complete the Short Essay
  • Submit a copy of their most recent transcripts
  • Submit a letter of recommendation

Once the completed application packet is received, students will be asked to come to campus for a Taste of College interview. Acceptance in the program is based on maturity, academic readiness and motivation. A selection committee reviews all applications to make final admissions decisions.

Application Deadlines:
Spring 2008: January 4, 2008
Summer 2008: 10 days prior to the appropriate session
Fall 2008: TBD

Scholarships

A limited number of scholarships are available each semester. Scholarships are based on both need and merit, and cover the price of tuition. To apply for a scholarship, simply fill out the Scholarship Application/Financial Statement form, located on the second page of the Taste of College application.
Whipple Scholarship
Available to qualified current Rush-Henrietta School District high school juniors and seniors (for fall and spring semester courses) OR qualified rising Rush-Henrietta School District high school juniors and seniors (for summer semester courses). Students must meet eligibility requirements. Whipple Scholarship tuition waiver forms are available through the counselor's office at Rush-Henrietta Senior High School and online.

Tuition and Fees

For the 2007-2008 academic year, the fees are:
Tuition: $600 per credit hour
Audit fee*: $125 per credit hour

* Auditing means that you receive no credit and no grade for the course; you attend the course and do as much or as little work as you choose.
