French in France is a month-long conversation and culture course held in Rochester's Breton sister city, Rennes. Students meet in Paris for several days of orientation by UR program director and travel together to Rennes. Students are hosted by families who provide housing, meals and opportunities for language and culture encounters. Excursions include the medieval abbey of Mont St. Michel, the old port of St. Malo, and the landing beaches of Normandy. The program fee includes language instruction, family stay and excursions. Students experience the excitement of Berlin, historic center of Germany and capital of the re-unified state. Students stay with host families. Mornings are devoted to German language classes at all levels; afternoons and weekends are free for exploring and for excursions to nearby Weimar and Potsdam.
