Trainee Handbook—Postdoctoral Associates

Getting Started

Welcome and congratulations on your appointment as a postdoctoral associate in Arts, Sciences and Engineering at the University of Rochester!

While your departmental administrator will take care of the vast majority of details that must be attended to in order for you to get started with our institution, we would also like to highlight a few important resources and opportunities:

Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Training

Postdoctoral associates are required to complete RCR education. The training must be completed as soon as possible upon the start of your appointment. There are three ways to complete this requirement:

  1. Attending the AS&E annual RCR Workshop, held in January each year;
  2. Completing the School of Medicine and Dentistry semester-long ethics training course (IND 506, CRN #44049); and
  3. Providing proof of RCR training at a prior institution.
