Considered to be one of the most valuable late-baroque musical artifacts in Europe today, the Casparini organ of the Holy Ghost Church (the Dominican church) in Vilnius, Lithuania, is an outstanding instrument that was miraculously well-preserved in a region afflicted by wars and conflicts. The Dominican church is the center of the Polish-speaking community in Vilnius .

Built in 1776, the organ in Vilnius is the only remaining example of a large organ created by Adam Gottlob Casparini. It is now in need of careful restoration and conservation. In collaboration with the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture, the Göteborg Organ Art Center in Sweden, the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester, and a group of five leading American organ builders, the Eastman School of Music has embarked on a global cultural heritage project to restore the historic organ and build a replica in Rochester, adjacent to the Eastman School.

Come hear a presentation about its history and the plans to restore it in its homeland and build a replica of it at Christ Church (Episcopal) in Rochester. Baroque and modern organ music will be played by Bogna McGarrigle from the Kraków Academy of Music and the Eastman School of Music Organ Department.
