Elena Letnanova, a virtuoso pianist, an educator, writer, and translator, is back in Rochester with the program of Chopin’s music and correspondence. An Associate Professor at the Slovak Technical University at Bratislava, Dr. Letnanova is a frequent performer at recitals and piano competitions. She has performed in Vienna, Rome, San Francisco, Katowice, Bratislava, London, Bordeaux, Prague, Zagreb, Zurich, Baden, Bologna, New York's Carnegie Hall, Washington D.C., Dayton, Dallas, Denver, Fairfax, Rochester, and other cities throughout the world. Her four books and more than 60 articles on music and culture were published in journals in New York, Jefferson, NC; Northfield, IL; Delft, Prague, Moscow, Gent, Bratislava, and London. She was the artistic director of the Flemish Music Festival.

The correspondence presented during the program includes letters written and received by Chopin as well as a number of those exchanged between his friends. They throw light on the genesis of some of Chopin’s compositions, on his character and personality, and on the psychology of his colleagues. The letters will be read by Emil Homerin, Professor at the Religion and Classic Department, University of Rochester.

The concert is free and open to the public. Parking at the designated lots at the River Campus is free of charge.
