Twenty-six years old Łukasz is held in custody, wrongly accused of mugging an elderly woman. The mentally disabled woman fingers him as the perpetrator. A lawyer hired by his mother unsuccessfully tries to free him. Lukasz's experience mercilessly degrades his character despite his attempts to maintain a sense of human dignity.
The impulse for making "Symmetry" came from the director's own personal experiences in police custody. Filled with harsh authenticity the film can be taken as a compelling argument against the current state of the Polish judicial and prison systems.
