Mission

Ralph Bunche
The mission of the Center for the Study of African-American Politics is to provide an intellectual environment for rigorous research on the political life of African-Americans. The center has three main goals:

1) to contribute to the growth and development of African-American politics in the field of political science

2) provide an institutionalized infrastructure for the study of African-American politics by offering local and national scholars an intellectual space to exchange and nurture their ideas through workshops, conferences, and fellowships, and

3) coordinate research in African-American politics at the University of Rochester.

The center is interested in the study of all political phenomena related to black life and is especially interested but not limited to empirically based research.
