PhD, New York University, 2012. Comparative politics, political economy of development, African politics. His current research examines the impact of electoral competition on the provision of public goods and services in sub-Saharan Africa, with a particular focus on the distribution of resources between urban and rural areas. He is also engaged in research on the determinants of voter choice in Africa as well as on the conditions under which elections lead to violence. Teaches courses on African politics and the politics of development. Postdoctoral Prize Research Fellow, Nuffield College, University of Oxford, 2012-13.
