Green Street Arts Center : A Model of City and University Collaboration
Wesleyan University, in collaboration with the City of Middletown, the North End Action Team, and other local community organizations, converted a former school on Green Street, Middletown, CT, into a cultural and educational resource for the community. The center will particularly benefit children and families in the North End of low and moderate incomes who could not otherwise afford classes with art professionals. Presented by Ricardo Morris, Director of the Green Street Arts Center.

Closing the Gap: A Close Look at KIPP
Founded by two recent college graduates, KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) is setting a new standard for the education of students and training of teachers in urban areas. Learn about the program from its administrators and students.

Discussions of Undergraduate Involvement in Urban Education in Rochester
Undergraduates speak about successful programs, run by area college students. Presented by the University of Rochester’s Community Service Network in conjunction with representatives from other area colleges.

Registration for the luncheon and keynote address is required for all attendees.
Registration for the workshop programs is not required but strongly encouraged.

Cost – Includes admission to workshop programs and lunch.
Undergraduate students in the College: Free
Other students ( UR or another college): $10.00
General Public: $20.00
Hosted Table of 10: $200.00

Parking

Conference attendees from the community will be provided a free parking pass. Guests must stop by the Information Booth, located at the Elmwood Avenue entrance to the River Campus, and identify themselves as attendees of the MLK Day Conference in Wilson Commons. The booth attendant will direct guests to open lots and provide a map for those unfamiliar with campus.
