I received my Ph. D. in Physics from the University of Kansas in December 1995, with Professor John P. Ralston as my advisor. My Ph. D. research was in the area of electromagnetic wave propagation. One of the findings of this research was
In August 1995, I joined the team at Wolfram Research Inc. in Champaign, Illinois, where I worked with the Mathematica computer software system.
In May 1996, I joined the Rochester Theory Center for Optical Science and Engineering at the University of Rochester. More specifics about RTC is here. At the center, I have worked with laser beam characterization and smoothing techniques for the OMEGA laser system at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics, studied the transmission and propagation of short laser pulses in a medium with Professor Colin J. McKinstrie, investigated the interference behavior of dispersive wave packets in general media, and am currently working with Professor Emil Wolf on the influence of dynamic scattering on the spectrum of scattered electromagnetic radiation.
