University of Rochester

Application procedures are detailed below.

Applications will not be reviewed until further notice, due to pending RTC reorganization.

The Rochester Theory Center for Optical Science and Engineering receives applications for temporary 1-3 year positions within the Center from both senior and junior scientists and engineers.

Junior applicants, those having received their PhD degree but not yet holding a long-term appointment in another institution, are expected to start the application process by choosing one of the permanent Senior Members of RTC whose current research is of particular interest. Please note that salary support for successful junior applicants is provided by the individual research projects of the permanent Senior Members of RTC. Therefore, initial inquiry about a postdoctoral appointment must be made to one of them to determine if an appropriate opportunity exists to join a research group.

RTC will support the salary of senior persons to a limited extent. Their support is expected to come substantially from independent funds such as sabbatical leave funds from the home institution. Inquiry about openings for senior participants in RTC research projects, and about the possibility of establishing an independent project (which would typically require 100% external support), may be made either to the RTC administration via or to any of the Senior Members individually.
