How to Register

Please note that some academic policies and timelines differ from the fall and spring semesters. Please review the policies and summer academic calendar before registering.

Everyone must follow the registration and payment deadlines written below.

Current Rochester Students

You can log on to UR Student to register beginning March 1.

You will be billed for your summer courses, and the charges will appear on your next tuition bill following your completed registration.

Rochester Area Colleges (RAC) Inter-Institutional Program Students

To register for summer courses, you should follow the procedures outlined on the Registrar's site.

Visiting Students

If this is your first time registering for a course, please start by creating a new student account here. Once you create your account, instructions will be provided regarding how to register for courses within 1-2 business days.

If you have taken an Arts, Sciences and Engineering course at the University of Rochester within the past two years, simply log into UR Student with your Net ID and password. (If you have forgotten your Net ID and password, please contact University IT.)

Once you are logged into UR Student, you will be required to complete the onboarding tasks before registering for classes. For tutorials on how to find and register for classes, visit the UR Student Training Guide.

Payment for your courses is due in full immediately following confirmation of registration. Payments can be made by contacting the Bursar's Office directly. If payment is not received no later than one week prior to the first day of class, you will be deregistered.

University of Rochester Alumni

Rochester alumni are encouraged to take courses for intellectual enrichment or professional development. With four summer sessions and a variety of courses, you can learn something new and enjoy your summer with our flexible schedules. In addition, we offer tuition discounts. Please refer to the tuition and fees page for more information.

University of Rochester Employees

University employees can take advantage of summer courses to earn college credit or to take a class that will help you in your current or future career. Eligible Rochester employees may use tuition benefits.

While no formal application is required, some courses have prerequisites. Course requirements can be found through our course offerings page.

Current High School Students

The University of Rochester offers a wide array of courses for high school students. You can engage in challenging and interesting coursework, while building lasting connections with your peers. To find out more about all the courses available, please visit our Pre-College Programs page.

Incoming UR Students

Enrolled incoming first-year and transfer students, who are slated to begin their first year at UR in fall 2021, can take no more than two summer 2021 courses for credit. Prior to registering for courses, incoming students must first email the Office of Summer and Continuing Studies, oscs@rochester.edu, to receive information regarding registration.
