Set over one summer, the film follows precocious six-year-old Moonee as she courts mischief and adventure with her ragtag playmates and bonds with her rebellious but caring mother, all while living in the shadows of Disney World. Admission to the screening is free. Sponsored by UR Cinema Group.

The Saplings are an exciting, nine piece band based in Rochester, New York who offer a fresh brand of chamber-pop filled with a variety of musical flavors. Their contagious energy and witty humor create an unforgettable experience for audiences anywhere as they take each person on a journey through love songs, hate songs, and unavoidable fate songs. Made up of nine musicians from the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, The Saplings draw on a range of creative influences including: Steely Dan, Talking Heads, Earth Wind and Fire, Frank Ocean, The Beatles, and The Beach Boys. Each member of The Saplings is an accomplished musician in their own right. Members of the band have played with Danielle Ponder and The Tomorrow People, THUNDER BODY, and at the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival. As a further testament to their musicianship, the band has opened for THUNDER BODY, KNOWER, and will open for Giant Panda Guerilla Squad this January on a two-night show featuring John Brown’s Body and the Easy Star All-Stars as well. The Saplings released their first EP in April of 2017 and plan on recording their first full-length album in the spring of 2018.Sponsored by Eastman Office of Student Activities and Wilson Commons Student Activities.
7 p.m. – Vagina Monologues!, Strong Auditorium
UR College Feminists presents The Vagina Monologues!, A non-profit production, as part of the V-Day Movement, to raise awareness and funds to end violence against women. Proceeds will go to RESTORE, a rape crisis program that provides crisis intervention and to V-Day to provide support to groups working to eradicate sexual and gender violence in places of work. Tickets are $7 for UR undergraduate students and $10 for the general public. Tickets go on sale can be purchased at the Common Market in Wilson Commons or online at www.urochestertickets.com.Sponsored by UR College Feminists.
10 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. – Friday Night Coffeehouse, Starbucks, Wilson Commons
Relax at Starbucks with a cup of coffee and a pastry on a Friday night while listening to some great music. Candy Isle is an acoustic indie pop duo consisting of U of R seniors Kat Bakrania and Lydia Dake. Kat, a political science major and Lydia, a psychology major, met their freshman year through their musical theatre group OBOC (Off Broadway On Campus), but didn't start making their own music together until this past June. Candy Isle plays a mix of originals and covers, covering artists like Girlpool, Fleet Foxes, and Wet. Their first EP, "Mostly Blankets," was released in August and can be found online at candyisle.bandcamp.com. Sponsored by Student Programming Board.

Grassroots' Clothing Exchange is an opportunity to donate unwanted clothes and/or update your wardrobe (for free!), all while helping Mother Earth by not participating in the resource-intensive process used to create new clothes. (It is not necessary to donate clothes to take clothes!)
4 to 7 p.m. – Winter Wonderland, The Campus Center and Wilson Quad
One of the biggest parts of Winterfest Weekend is the Winter Wonderland that occurs on Saturday afternoon. This year it'll be in various places both inside and outside of Wilson Commons like the Wilson Commons Porch, Hirst Lounge, and the May Room. There will be free s'mores, fun winter carnival activities, build-a-buddy, cookie decorating, light therapy display by UHS, music by WRUR, and a live ice carving demonstration. Sponsored by Class Councils, Student Programming Board, Rochester Rochester RAAS, Japanese Students’ Association, University Health Services & Wilson Commons Student Activities.
4 p.m. – Winterfest Tumbler Giveaway, Wilson Quad
Get in line early on Wilson Quad for a favorite tradition of Winterfest Weekend - the giveaway! This is year it is a collectable tumbler! You can keep this tumbler for years to come to remember all the fun that you had this weekend as well as at the University of Rochester!
5 to 9 p.m. – Winterfest Danforth Dinner, Danforth
The menu will include meatloaf, BBQ poutine, a baked potato bar, made to order risotto, vegan chicken & waffles, Stromboli, and assorted desserts. Vegan, Halal, and vegetarian options are available. Hasan Minhaj is a comedian, actor, host, and writer. In November 2014, he made his debut as a full time correspondent on the Emmy and Peabody award-winning THE DAILY SHOW (and became the last hire Jon Stewart made). Hasan is the host of the docu-series STAND UP PLANET, which was financed by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The documentary aired on PBS, Pivot, KCET and LinkTV. The series, which was filmed in South Africa, India and the US, highlights economic problems throughout the world through the lens of standup comedians. Tickets are $7 for University of Rochester undergraduate students; $10 for University faculty, staff, and graduate students; and $15 for the general public. UR undergraduate student tickets will be available at the Common Market at 11 am on Monday, January 23, 2017. Tarana has dedicated more than 25 years of her life to social justice and to laying the groundwork for a movement that was initially created to help young women of color who survived sexual abuse and assault. Tarana Burke shares the heartbreaking story behind the genesis of the viral 2017 TIME Person of the Year-winning “me too” movement, and gives strength and healing to those who have experienced sexual trauma or harassment. UR undergraduate tickets go on sales at 11 am Monday, January 22, 2018 and general public tickets go on sale Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 11 am.
