Common Market
Hours of operation during the academic school year are 11am-11pm everyday. We are closed during winter recess, spring break, and summer months. Methods of payment include cash, declining and URoS.
The Common Market is located in Wilson Commons on the 1st floor, right in front of the spiral staircase. We sell a variety of bulk candy and natural trail mixes as well as candy bars, nuts, medicine and many items that you would find in a small convenience store. We pride ourselves in making homemade fudge and have regular ‘candy engineers’ (students) who work throughout the year listening to favorite requests from students and actually making an amazing variety of flavors. During this past academic year, the Common Market employed 18 students. For budgeting purposes, we usually hire students who have been awarded Federal Work Study. Although they are responsible for scanning/entering items into the cash register, experience in cash sales is helpful, but not required. Excellent customer service as well as attention to detail is a must and most of our hires found their jobs to be fun as well as socially fulfilling. They learn responsibilities in handling money, stocking, taking pride in their workspace as well as listening to the customer and helping fellow students.
In the fall, we will be featuring a new local vendor from Park Avenue who will bring a new flare to the Common Market. His ‘cart’ will showcase a variety of fun, trendy, seasonal merchandise.
