LGBTQI Resources

This page provides resources for LGBTQI communities at the Susan B. Anthony Institute, The University of Rochester, in The Greater Rochester Area, and beyond by using the tabs above this text.

In addition to these resources, we also have provided resources for those wishing to become more education about LGBTQI related matters in the "Learn More" section where you can find links to LGBTQI terminology and to suggestions about how to be an ally to LGBTQI people and communities.

The Susan B. Anthony Institute for Gender and Women’s Studies is dedicated to addressing curricular and scholarly issues important for understanding the role of women, gender, and sexual orientation throughout history and in contemporary society. In service of this mission SBAI provides courses, events and event series, and resources on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex (LGBTQI) topics.

In addition, SBAI works to incorporate LGBTQI concerns across our event and and celebrations including coordinating the University of Rochester’s LGBTQI Awareness Month. During LGBTQI Awareness Month we hold our annual Rainbow Lecture addressing LGBTQI issues from a scholarly perspective and the Out in Reel LGBTQI Film Series that looks at these issues from a variety of perspectives. We also collaborate with other programs, departments, student groups, and community organizations to provide additional events and education on LGBTQI topics across the academic year.

SBAI is proud to be recognized as a safe space on campus. The Director, Program Manager, and Program Assistant have all been trained in the Safe Space program and can answer questions and engage in discussions about LGBTQI issues, offering non-judgmental support for academic, professional, and personal concerns.

The SBAI also houses The Pride Network’s Library for the University, whose books are available for check out in 540 Lattimore Hall. To browse the Pride Library online, click here.
