(en)Gendered Juried Art Exhibit
About the Competition and Exhibition:
SBAI releases a call for artwork in the fall of each year. Three works are chosen for the Susan B. Anthony Institute Jurors' Choice Prize, which carries an award of $150 each. Four to eight additional works are chosen to accompany the winners in the exhibit at the Art and Music Library. The winners and honorable mentions are announced at the opening reception in Sage Art Center. The opening, which takes place annually on the first Friday of the spring semester, includes a showcase of all submitted work and a gallery talk by a special guest juror. Artwork is then moved to the Art and Music Library and exhibited for the public until February.
All undergraduate students at the University of Rochester are eligible to enter.
About the show:
When it comes to examining the fluidity and complexity of gender and sexuality in society, there is perhaps no better view than through the lens of art. Such is the challenge taken on annually by (en)Gendered, a juried exhibit of art created by University of Rochester undergraduate students.
The work of these students offers varied and sophisticated insights and social commentary about gender, an issue that has both social baggage and relevance."
