Academic Attire

Academic attire is required for graduates participating in the Commencement ceremony. Candidates order and pick up their regalia at the Medical Center Bookstore.


Arrival Times

Only candidates who have returned their participation card to the Offices for Graduate Education may participate in the ceremony. Masters Degree candidates must arrive at the Memorial Art Gallery no later than 1:15 p.m. to allow sufficient time for robing and assembly of processional columns. Candidates will be lined up in alphabetical order according to their degree (MA, MPH, and MS).

At 1:50 p.m., all candidates are to be lined up in their proper columns, ready to begin the procession.


Assistance to the Disabled

Accommodations, at the student's request, can be made for persons with disabilities by contacting the Offices for Graduate Education (585) 273-1620. Seating will be available in the Gallery Auditorium and must be reserved by April 28, 2008. Ushers will be on hand to direct guests to the designated seating areas.


Guests

Guests may enter through the main entrance of the Memorial Art Gallery. Signs and ushers will be available to direct guests to the Gallery Auditorium. Tickets are not required for this ceremony but please indicate the number of your guests (up to 4) attending this event on the reception response card. Please be sure to communicate with us if you will need to increase the number of suggested guests. We will do our best to accommodate your request.


Parking

Parking is available for this event in the Memorial Art Gallery Parking Lot.


Photographer

A University of Rochester photographer will photograph all degree recipients as they receive their diploma. After the ceremony, you may take additional photos with your guests at the reception.

Things to do after the Ceremony and Reception

A visit to the Art Gallery or the annual Lilac Festival (runs May 9-18, 2008) are highly recommended after the Ceremony and Reception.
