New Golisano Children’s Hospital Tower

The new $145-million Golisano Children’s Hospital tower, to be located on Crittenden Boulevard and attached to the Medical Center and Strong Memorial Hospital, will be eight floors and approximately 245,000 square feet of space dedicated to children and their families. When the new hospital opens in 2015, private rooms and a greatly expanded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit will provide our families with much-needed privacy and will enhance infection control efforts.

Saturday work
To make up for time lost during the winter on the building exterior of the hospital, Saturday work will continue through the end of July.  The work will mainly be brick masonry.  Loud work (saws, back-up alarms, etc.) will not start until 9 a.m. and will stop by 4 p.m..

Recent updates:

Northbound I-390 is scheduled to close between West Henrietta Road (exit 16) and Scottsville Road (exit 17) from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting Monday, March 17, for approximately five nights. Northbound traffic will be detoured to exit at East Henrietta Road (exit 16) and will be directed to continue straight to West Henrietta Road, left to Jefferson Road, right to Scottsville Road to re-enter I-390 North. Detours will be posted all week.

The entrance ramp from West Henrietta/Mt. Hope (Rt.15) to I-390 northbound will be closed and motorists should follow the detour. Southbound traffic on I-390 will not be impacted.

Also during this time, I-390 will be reduced to a single northbound lane at approximately 7 p.m. each night. A single northbound lane will be reopened at 5 a.m. All lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. each morning. Work will take place each night next week, as weather conditions permit.

The closures allow for the placement of steel girders on top of concrete piers as part of the project to create a new entrance ramp from Kendrick Road to I-390 Northbound along the Erie Canal in the town of Brighton.
