A special hire is defined as the hiring and payrolling of a candidate identified and supervised by a department for a short term, temporary, one-time only assignment through the Temporary Services Program (TSP). The employee is terminated at the completion of his/her assignment. All University policies and Temporary Service's application of those policies apply.
A summer hire is the hiring and payrolling of a University graduating senior (no longer eligible through the Student Employment Office); or a non-University student identified and supervised by a department for a short-term, temporary, one-time only assignment through the Temporary Services Program. The employee is terminated at the completion of his/her assignment. All University policies and Temporary Service's application of those policies apply. Departments intending to hire students from other institutions or wishing to hire University students who will graduate in May will need to coordinate the hiring process through Employment Services or Temporary Services. For those graduating, the last day they will be eligible to be paid through Student Payroll is May 28.
Departments have two options:
The Employment Services Office and Temporary Services Program Office will not be accepting applications for summer-only applicants.
