Parking rates remain stable on River Campus
The 1996-1997 parking registration period will end on June 30. With the start of the new registration period, University Parking Services will be implementing changes and new policies for River Campus zone parking. Parking rates, however, will remain the same.
The zone boundaries for the River Campus will remain unchanged, with one exception. Since the Admissions Office will be moving to the Administration Building in the fall, with other offices moving to
Meliora Hall at a later date, the Meliora Lot has been added to Zone 1A.
Visitor Parking will continue to be centralized in the Library Lot.
The following new policies will be implemented in July:
- The wheel-lock fee will be increased from $15 to $50.
- The rate for car pools will be increased according to the zone allocated: a two-person car pool will be half of the zone rate per person, a three-person car pool will be one third of the zone rate per person, etc.
- Some "15-minutes-with-flasher" spaces will be replaced with parking meters.
- Additional meter spaces will be installed on the River Campus.
- Parking in no parking or fire lane areas will not be accepted at anytime, even for just 15 minutes with flashers.
- Summer permit upgrades will be available for those who wish to purchase a space in a zone closer to their work place.
An Appeals Committee will oversee a new appeals policy that became effective in January. The committee meets once a month to review and process violation appeals. Important aspects of this process include:
- After two negative appeals per year per person, no additional appeals will be accepted.
- Appeals received after 10 days will not be accepted.
- Appeals submitted for multiple tickets will not be accepted.
- Appeals for non-permit holders affiliated with the University will not be accepted.
