"We're planning a three-day grand opening celebration with food, festivities, music and dance performances, free chair massage, door prizes, a free gift for new and renewing members and many other activities," says Anita Spoor, Athletic Club director. "The new facility is an exciting and wonderful improvement and it is a true testimonial of the Medical Center's commitment to promoting health and wellness.
"This is the only workplace health club in the area which offers all of the best equipment, programs, and amenities that the million-dollar clubs offer," Spoor adds.
Among the grand opening events scheduled during June 24, 25, and 26 are guided tours of the new facility every 15 minutes from noon to 2 p.m. Performances by a local female vocalist from the Phantom of the Opera production, a visit by the cast members of Forever Plaid and a spectacular show by the Fitzsimmons Dance Factory are some of the events scheduled for this three-day celebration.
On Thursday evening at 5 p.m., the Athletic Club will host an hour-and-a-half open aerobic jam, featuring all of the club's ten aerobics instructors plus instructors from other area health clubs. Other events include karate exhibits, a Wheelchair Basketball team competition, visits from the Rhinos and the Rochester Americans, free chair massages from Sports Club massage therapists, and ballroom dance demonstrations.
All events and festivities are free, open to both members and non-members, and scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and 5 to 6 p.m.
