EXHIBITS
Through July 31, Henry David Thoreau Collection. This exhibition showcases a rare, complete, and extremely valuable collection of Thoreau's works, donated to the University of Rochester Libraries by Raymond R. Borst. It includes first editions of all Thoreau's writings and other materials. Department of Rare Books, Rush Rhees Library.
Through August 10, Arena Group. Founded in the 1950s, the Arena Group takes its name from its first exhibition site, the old Arena Theatre on Hoeltzer Street. The group of about 60 professional members holds its most important show at the Memorial Art Gallery every three years.
Through August 17, Artists' Artists. This collection features self-portraits of artists as diverse as Rembrandt van Rijn and Andy Warhol. The works from the Gallery's collection span 500 years. Memorial Art Gallery.
Through September 7, 56th Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibition. This oldest and most prestigious juried exhibition in Rochester features 56 works by 49 emerging artists in the region, chosen from a field of 784 entries.
Through September 7, James Pappas. This exhibition showcases recent paintings, drawings, and monoprints by noted Buffalo artist James Pappas, who was also a juror of the 56th Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibition.
