APPOINTMENTS

Anthony T. Carter, professor of anthropology, has been appointed chair of the Anthropology and Demography Committee of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population.

Holly Colf has been appointed manager of Application Systems in Administrative Computing Services (ACS). Previously, she was ACS's acting manager.

Brenda Meehan, professor of history, has been selected as the Hanes-Willis Visiting Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She will spend November 8­15, 1997, lecturing and participating in classes on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus.

Ralpha Welker has been appointed manager of Data Base Management Systems in Administrative Computing Services (ACS). Previously, she was ACS's acting manager.

AWARDS

Anne-Marie Algier, assistant director of student activities and programs, was presented with the Richard D. Blackburn New Professional Award, which honors a young professional for outstanding service to his or her institution and the Association of College Unions International.
