The annual enrollment period for the University's Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) Program for the calendar year 1998 is being held through December 5. Full-time and part-time faculty and staff should have received 1998 FSA enrollment materials at their homes. This important part of the University's Benefits Program gives full-time and part-time faculty and staff the option of paying unreimbursed medical, dental, and dependent care expenses from pre-tax earnings. Electing to have these expenses deducted from your paycheck on a pre-tax basis will mean lower federal and state withholding (possibly FICA taxes, as well), and consequently a cash savings to you. Enrollment for FSAs is held once for each calendar year in accordance with IRS regulations.
On December 1, 2, and 3, a representative from the University's FSA claims administrator (Blue Cross/Blue Shield) will be available at the University Benefits Office, Room G-8011, Medical Center, to explain the FSA Program and the enrollment procedure, and to answer questions. Individual appointments can be scheduled through the Benefits Office, by calling x5-3396.
The enrollment period for FSA's for the 1998 calendar year will continue through December 5, 1997, the deadline for submission of FSA Enrollment Forms to the Benefits Office. Questions about the FSA Program, the enrollment procedure, or scheduling an appointment with the FSA claims administrator should be referred to the Benefits Office at X5-3396.
