Dante Cicchetti, director of Mt. Hope and principal investigator on the grant, will work with Fred A. Rogosch, research associate in the Department of Clinical and Social Sciences in Psychology, to discover factors that contribute to resilience in some maltreated children. "Understanding how resilience in these children unfolds will provide insights into features that should be emphasized in developing treatment for the majority of maltreated children who do not develop in an adaptive manner," said Cicchetti, professor in the departments of psychology, psychiatry, and pediatrics.
During the four-year study funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the researchers will assess how children function and what factors contribute to their successful development.
