Three Rochester translators will read from their work in the first of the semester's Plutzik Memorial Poetry Series at the University on Wednesday, February 12.
Ruth Kessler, Emil Homerin, and Leah Zazulyer Watson, whose works are in Hebrew, Arabic and Yiddish, respectively, will read at 4 p.m. in the Welles-Browne Room of Rush Rhees Library. The reading is free and open to the public.
Kessler, a senior lecturer in Hebrew, translates contemporary Israeli poets, such as Yehudah Amichai and Rachel Chalfy.
Homerin is a professor of religion and classics at the University. He translates the works of Ibn al-Farid and other classic Arabic poets.
Watson translates the poetry of Israel Emiot and other Yiddish poets and writers.
The Plutzik Series will bring three other outstanding writers, including 1996 National Book Award winner Andrea Barrett, to the River Campus this semester. More details will follow.
